Terms & Conditions

By Registration and Signing your contract (bottom of entry form submitted) you are obligated to follow the following:  

1. A non-refundable enrolment fee of R200  (Loreto Convent R120) is payable for each dancer/student enrolled annually. Enrolment fees are payable on the day of enrolment and strictly prior to a student’s first class.

2. After corresponding with us via email and registering, parents are responsible for all payments of the student’s account and must acquaint him/herself with the Terms and Conditions and General Rules prior to sending the student for his/her first class. Please make sure to read through and understand ALL terms and conditions, these are non negotiable.

3. Classes will be between 30 min and 60 min( depends in which class/level your child falls) . Ballet classes are once a week but students are welcome to join classes at 2nd venue for free if they want two classes per week. No classes will be scheduled on public holidays, during public school holidays or during dance exams – UNLESS PRE-ARRANGED by teachers. PLEASE NOTE NO CLASSES IN OUR ANNUAL EXAM DANCE WEEK. 

4. Dance fees are calculated on a month-basis (12 months x per year) or by Term (x4 per year) and are payable in advance on or before the 3rd of the month or term (pre schools Term fees only). Pre Schools only have the term option. Under no circumstances will any fees be refundable and no credit will be given to students who are absent from class.
In the event where the class fees are not paid before or on the 3rd of the first month of the term, an email will be sent as a reminder to pay the invoiced bill on a postponed date, when the person responsible for paying the bill, haven’t settled the account on the given date, the student will no longer be allowed to attend class and the account holder will be held responsible for the outstanding fees as per contract. We encourage parents to make sure that if you pay year fees in advance you make sure your daughter/son will continue ballet for the duration of contract as NO refunds on fees paid in advance will be permitted. NO notice will be accepted in the last term of the year, and you will be liable to pay up to the end of the year. a 15% penalty fee will be charged for all late payments not made by the 3rd of each new term. It is not the responsibility of the ballet school to remind parents to pay. Payments made after 15th of each term will activate a de-registration of the student as per contract

5. If a student wants to terminate their registration a 1 x FULL term (3 months) notice has to be given in advance by EMAIL only.(no messages on phones will be accepted) 

6. All payments have to be done by means of direct deposit (NO cash will be accepted)

7. Fees do not include exam and competition registration-and-entry fees.

8. Pretoria Ballet do not accept responsibility, direct or indirect, and will not be held liable for any accident or death, injuries, illness, damage and/or losses suffered by you and/or the student during dance lessons, rehearsals, performances, functions, outings and tours and you hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sharon School of Ballet and Ballettots.kids.teens and its employees in the event of any such occurrences. 

9. Pretoria Ballet will not be responsible for students outside of class times.

10. All students, teachers and parents will adhere to the studio “General Rules” for their own safety and out of respect for others and the premises used.

11. Any contact with Ballet Pretoria should only be done between 9am and 11am, Tuesdays – Thursdays via phone call, whatsapp or email.(We prefer whatapp) 

12. All classes are done in studio uniform.Please note NO teacher/assistant will take responsibility to look for Primary student when they don’t show up for class. It is the dancer/parents own responsibility to arrive on time for class. We will however collect all the Creche/Gr R’s from their allocated classes or playareas. 

13. A register for each class is maintained by the teacher and records students attendance for purposes of safety and security.

14. If a class is cancelled due to the sickness of the teacher, a health epidemic or any other unforseen event, then we will try to reschedule the class or add some time on to the next lesson/s. This may be on a different day and time from when originally scheduled, and might involve an extention to the term dates. No refunds will be given in this case.

15. If your child attend any classes during the term, you are liable to pay for the full term’s invoice. If a student does not attend class because of sickness/non attendance of classes you are still liable to pay the full terms payment. 


Permissions (Medical & Photographic consent)

1. Medical: Parents are required to give permission for any students under the age of 18 for an authorized first aider to give any immediate and /or necessary first aid treatment.

2. Photographic: Upon registration parents are asked to opt in or opt out of photographic consent for their child. Parents will be notified when photographic sessions take place.

3. Social media: Photos taken during performances, exams and shows and classes are shared on the ballet school Social media platforms which include; the website, Facebook page and Instagram account as wellas the ballet whatsapp groups. Upon Registration parents consent to publishing group/class pictures to these platforms. If you wish to opt out please email us upon registration.


General Rules

1.Pretoria Ballet will hold within its sole discretion the final say as to the suitability of a student to be entered for examinations, competitions and/or shows/concerts and may, at its sole and exclusive discretion, withdraw or hold back from any such specified events, any student which in the opinion of Pretoria Ballet of Dance, appears to be inadequately prepared due to poor attendance and/or performance.

2. All school bags/ tog bags/ shoes/ clothes are to be left outside the studio or in the waiting room.

3. No eating or soft drinks to be consumed during class times please ensure that your child has water available during and after classes.

4. No interruptions during any class. All administration matters can be discussed via email.

5. All cell phones to be switched OFF during class!

6. A student has to obtain a 80 % or more for the annual dance exam to be able to enter a solo / duet or trio for a competition.

7. In the case where the student has been absent from class 3 times or more per term, he/she will no longer be allowed to take part in the festival or exam (We do not have this rule for our sake but the sake of the child)

8. Students must please vacate the studio as soon as classes end, to accommodate the next class. No chatting outside of class please!

9.. All students will have the opportunity to participate yearly in the following events: exams, annual show and stage performances.

10. No late payments please. A 15 % penalty fee will be added onto late payments like stated on signed contract. 

12. You as parents are invited to come and observe your child’s progress by sitting in. These date/s will be given through on the newsletters.
NO spectators CAN SIT IN AT ANY OF THE CLASSES other than mentioned above. Please abide by this rule for it is only to the benefit of your own child. I only allow grandparents or family that visit from far.
If, for whatever reason, a student wants to discontinue lessons, 1 TERM’ notice needs to be given.

13. NO child will be allowed to participate if we have not received a full registration filled in form, entry fee and signed Terms and condition. This is to protect all parties.

14. It is the parent/guardians responsibility to make sure he/she is added on the Whatsapp groups.

15.It is the parent/guardians responsibility to make sure he/she lets the ballet school know if there is a change in cell numbers or address.
