Sharon Viljoen and Rochelle Myburgh (mother and daughter team) believes that ballet is a beautiful, artistic expression of grace poise, strength and talent. Ballet expresses a story through precise movements. We believe that any form of dancing but ballet especially instills confidence and work ethic in young students, skills that is so important in today days. BUT as in anything requires training.
We are registered at Royal Academy of Dance and at Dance Academy of South Africa making sure all our students get the opportunity to get exposed to international and national syllabi.
I have been an active DASA teacher for more than 38 years in Gauteng and I have the honour of serving on the board of directors at DASA. I’m privileged to also be an examiner for DASA, travelling throughout the country to examine classical dancers. I believe that all children must get the opportunity to achieve excellent classical training, but to also allow them to excel in a caring and loving environment. I pride myself in my student’s immense hard work and our full production shows in the State Theatre, etc. I enter numerous students for national and modern medals and I believe in developing all students to their fullest potential to the best of their abilities.
I currently reside in the UK with my beautiful family. I have been teaching ballet for over 10 years in and around Pretoria. I have an immense passion for working with children and I believe in providing a solid technical foundation for the developing dancer, starting as early as the age of 2 ½ years (yes babies can do ballet). My goal is to give each individual dancer the tools they need to take dance as far as they can dream to take it. While I was studying dance in high school, at Waterkloof Dance Academy, my studies included ballet, contemporary, jazz, dance anatomy and dance theory. I did my teachers practical with RAD(Royal Academy of Dance) and DASA (Dance Academy of South Africa) and I truly have a passion for teaching and mentoring young children. I come to South Africa as much as I can to present workshops and I will always strive to still be involved from miles away.

Ódel has been immersed in the world of ballet from a very young age, starting at just two years old. She has diligently worked to qualify her grades through the Royal Academy of Dancing and DASA. Her dedication has led her to pursue her passion as a DASA ballet teacher. Her love for ballet has always been a driving force in her life. In addition to her ballet pursuits, Ódel has also excelled in the realm of acrobatics, competing at a national level and earning her national colours for consecutive years. Her love for the stage has led her to become involved in stage productions, including being a part of her mentor, Sharon Viljoen’s production of “The Snowflakes”. Not content with just being a performer, Ódel is actively involved in teaching other various dance styles, including contemporary and acrobatics. Her passion for dance and her commitment to teaching are evident in her work as a teacher. While busy with her dance schedule, Ódel is also committed to her academic pursuits, currently enrolled as a student in BCom Business Studies. Her drive and determination are evident in both her artistic and academic endeavors.
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always wanted to be a ballerina. I’ve had the privilege to be part of this studio since the age of 3 and I haven’t looked back. In high school I took part in various Dance World Cup competitions, 5 big Dance productions and danced in 3 of Sharon Viljoen’s dance productions. I also had the honour of travelling to New York City where I attended numerous workshops with international dancers and teachers. I am a certified DASA teacher and I also completed my Early Childhood Development certificate in 2020 and fell in love with the well-being and development of children. I decided to combine my 2 passions, ballet and the teaching of children. I am so excited to work with all of the ballerinas, instilling unconditional love ,encouraging their passion for dance and enjoying every moment of life with them! “Dance is the language of the soul and the closest thing to magic.”
I have been a ballerina since I was only two years old. I know that ballet requires focus, dedication, passion, hours of hard work, sweat and tears. I have passed every examination from Tiny Tots 1 up until Advanced 2 with a distinction of 91% (which has been my highest distinction out of all my examinations).Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of wearing pointe shoes and a tutu. Looking back at all the famous Ballerinas and watching them dance was the dream of the life that I wanted to live. I am a hard worker and would love to help little girls live out their dreams with dance. During High School I had the opportunity of taking Dance as a subject where we took part in Ballet (R.A.D – Royal Academy of Dance), Contempory and Jazz. I am a very social person and get along with most personalities and people. I love making new friends and getting to know other people. I am also very organised and I love when things fall into place, although I can also easily adapt to my surroundings. My passion and heart is children.
I started dancing when I was 3 years old. I did Royal Academy of Dance (Ballet) and did Dance Academy of South Africa (Ballet). I also had a love for Hip-Hop and Contemporary dance. I’m busy getting get my full qualification from DASA as a Ballet and Contemporary teacher. I have a deep love for teaching dance and a strong passion for working with kids. Guiding young dancers is incredibly rewarding for me, as I get to inspire them to express themselves through movement while also helping them develop confidence, discipline, and creativity. My goal is not just to teach dance steps but to instill a sense of joy, self-belief, and teamwork. I dream of seeing my students grow both as dancers and individuals, reaching their full potential and discovering the transformative power of dance. Every lesson is an opportunity to nurture their talent, celebrate their progress, and ignite their passion for this art form.
